Ellen Weinreb
Ellen comes to CSR
recruiting after 2 years as a CSR career coach and 9 years as a CSR
consultant. Her clients include Levi Strauss, Hewlett Packard, Sears
Holdings, Nike and L.L.Bean.
Her interest in social
responsibility stems from her involvement in Fair Trade during college
where she studied African crafts cooperatives. Upon graduation in
1991, she assisted coffee and crafts cooperatives while a Peace Corps
Volunteer in Cameroon.
The height of the
sweatshop media blitz of 1997 coincided with her MBA education at Yale.
Her experience in labor rights through fair trade was her entrée into
the corporate sector starting with internships at L.L. Bean and the New
Economics Foundation in London. At L.L. Bean, she was
responsible for assessing their internal labor practices program and
participating in the White House Apparel Industry Partnership (which
later became the Fair Labor Association.)
Since
then, she has completed 19 consulting engagements continuously building
on her experience. She remains very engaged in Corporate Social
Responsibility consulting and research through a long term contract at
Levi Strauss & Co.
