Ellen
Weinreb founded Sustainability Recruiting to fulfill the hiring needs
of socially responsible businesses. She brings more than a decade of
experience as a consultant with organizations ranging from large
multinational corporations—such as Levi Strauss, Hewlett Packard, and
Clorox—to start-ups and mid-sized enterprises—such as New Leaf Paper
and Calvert Investments.
As a consultant, Ellen drew on her undergraduate training in economics
and her master’s program at Yale’s School of Management, to support her
clients in creating and implementing their corporate social
responsibility functions. Through this experience, Ellen gained a deep
understanding of the skills and expertise that are needed to develop a
successful sustainability strategy.
Ellen’s knowledge and commitment to the field dates back to the early
1990’s when she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon and
supported coffee farmers in developing a sustainable business model. In
1997, during the course of obtaining her MBA, Ellen gained first-hand
CSR experience at L.L.Bean where she was responsible
for assessing their nascent labor practices program.
Over the years, Ellen has cultivated a broad professional network and
continually stays on top of her field. She is affiliated with several
professional associations, including Business for Social Responsibility
(member), Net Impact (life time member) and B Corporation (certified).
Additionally, she has served as a professor in business ethics at UC
Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
Most importantly, as her more than
20 clients attest,
Ellen “gets it.”
She understands the field of sustainability, knows how to find the
right candidate for the position, and places top priority on being
efficient and effective. In sum, her client’s success is her success.
